Once upon a time the good citizens of Daphne wanted a public library so everyone would have access to many wonderful books. They started small, in a renovated laundromat in 1969, and grew into part of the old city hall in 1974. They built the new library in 1996 and the library addition in 2010. Throughout the years, the library provided information, education, humor, and personal service. Grown-ups enjoyed mysteries, spy novels, cook books, and love stories. Teens learned the ideals of America, the great authors, and current issues. Children read adventures with the Cat in the Hat and Winnie the Pooh. Waves of learning, enjoyment, and wonder expanded through Daphne like rings on the water of the bay. And if you listen carefully, you can still hear the giggles and sighs of contentment today!
